About the Inventor

The Bucket Oasis was invented in the Northwoods of Wisconsin—where frozen winters, hot summers, and short growing seasons are a way of life. In these conditions, permanent irrigation can be expensive, and systems often need to be drained and stored every winter.

While traveling for weeks at a time, I constantly worried about my plants—watering bulbs running dry, wick ropes getting knocked loose, and having to ask someone to check in.

The challenge became clear: build a simple watering system that could keep plants watered for WEEKS at a time—one that fits inside existing containers without plumbing, electricity, or complicated setup.

After extensive experimentation, prototyping, and real-world gardening, that idea became the Bucket Oasis.

After a successful growing season, the garden hack became less about solving my own problem, but a way to share it with other Gardeners. The new goal was to create an affordable, practical solution that other gardeners could rely on—simple enough for a DIY mindset, but dependable enough to remove the stress of daily watering.

For many new gardeners, watering is the hardest part—too much, too little, or missing the right moment can quickly ruin a plant. The Bucket Oasis makes container gardening more forgiving, so you can spend less time worrying and more time enjoying what you grow.

Beyond watering, it also provides:

Mobility: Start plants indoors without transplanting, move plants into shade, under cover during storms, or indoors during early frosts.

Flexibility: Overwinter plants like peppers and keep them growing year after year.

Built to Last: Closed-cell high-density foam resists water absorption, helping prevent bacteria and fungal growth while supporting plants season after season.

The Bucket Oasis evolved from a simple garden experiment into a fully engineered product with the support of Fisher Rockpoint LLC (www.fisherrockpoint.com). Their guidance helped bring the design from concept to production—developing engineering documentation, sourcing suppliers, and supporting manufacturing.

A core goal from the beginning was to keep all components and production in the United States. Today, Bucket Oasis is proudly made in the USA with the help of experienced manufacturing partners across the country.

We’re grateful to the family-owned and operated factories and suppliers who made this possible, including partners in:

  • North Carolina (since 1979)

  • Maine (since 1919)

  • Missouri

  • Texas

  • Louisiana
